Additional Details

This unusual account book gives a detailed list of "Freight forwarded, copy of way-bills of merchandise transported" by the Concord & Claremont Railroad across southern New Hampshire and down to Boston. For each waybill is given the name of the consignor, a brief description of the articles, its weight, and the freight payable. Most cargoes appear to be heading from farm to market, such as apples, wool, eggs, or butter, while other shipments are being sent out to the farms, such as a barrel of phosphate.
