Additional Details

A promotional broadside for the Boston and Hudson Rail Road, advertising a new railroad carriage designed by an inventor from Stockbridge, MA which was on display at Boston's Faneuil Hall. Illustrated with an engraving of the locomotive and carriage engraved by Abel Bowen, as well as a floor plan of the carriage. The purple prose alone is worth the price of admission: "To have asserted a few years ago, that it were possible to travel from Albany to Boston at the rate of 12 or 15 miles an hour . . . would have branded the man who uttered such a thought with the appellation of madman." 2 copies in OCLC.
