Additional Details

An uncommon image of what might well be one of the original a. m. e. ministers that founded paul quinn college. Paul Quinn was founded in 1872 by a group of African Methodist Episcopal Church preachers in Austin, Texas. The school's original purpose was the education and training of the newly freed slaves following the end of the Civil War. We could find no image of any of the school's founding fathers, but the present cabinet card with its Waco address seems to be a logical candidate.
