Contemporary manuscript copy of John Sullivan's order of march from Easton at the start of the Expedition, detailing troop movements in case of attack. 2 1/2 pages, folded folio sheet; separated at vertical fold with minor loss, remants of seals on verso. "When the army shall be fully assembled, the following arrangement is to take place. viz. Light Corps to consist of Shott's, Armandt's, 6 Companies of Rangers, Wm Butler's Battalion, Morgans Corps, & all Volunteers that may join the Army. To be commanded by Genl. Hand. Maxwell's Brigade to consist of Dayton, Shreeve, Ogden, Spencer, & to to form the right of the first line. Poor's Brigade to consist of Ceeley, Reed, Scammel, Cortlandt & to form the left of the first line. Clinton's Brigade to consist of late Livingstons, Dubois, Gansworth, Alden, & to form the second Line or reserve . . . Should the Army be attacked in front, while on its march, the Light Corps will immediately form to repulse the Enemy. The flanking Division will endeavor to gain the Flanks & Rear of the Enemy . . ."
