Edited by Geoffrey Scott and (later) Frederick Pottle. 20 volumes (of what was eventually extended to 22; this set comprising volumes 1-18, and the 1 volume each Index and Catalogue to the Private Papers). Several facsimiles of Boswell's manuscript pages. Mostly large 4to, original red boards and cloth spines with printed paper spine labels, some moderate rubbing and mild fading; mostly unopened; matching red board slipcases, similar wear. Also included is the publisher's printed large-format subscription pamphlet laid loose in printed wrappers, listing projected titles through volume 16 (while allowing that two further volumes may be necessary), as well as several pamphlets and other printed material relating to Johnson/Boswell bibliographically and otherwise. Np: Privately Printed (by William Edwin Rudge), 1928-34.
