Known as the Goudy Bible and the finest lectern bible printed in America. The original was set in 22pt Centaur with slightly shortened extenders after trials with Bembo and Goudy Newstyle. The latter type was used here after Rogers and Sol Hess (of Lanston Monotype) modified it when the original typeface did not space to his standards and those of printer Abraham A. Colish, forcing them to almost entirely relead the original monotype composition by hand--Carter, page 55. One of 975 unnumbered copies.
