Illustrated with 4 engraved hand-colored plates by or after Rowlandson. 4to, full burgundy straight-grain morocco, covers blocked in decorative gilt within blind stamped borders, spine gilt in compartments, boards soiled, corners bumped; inner dentelles; all edges gilt; scattered foxing throughout, offsetting to facing pages from plates, few text-leaves dog-eared, last illustration with some foxing into image, others with only marginal spotting; old ownership inscription on first blank. first edition, with an autograph manuscript presentation letter announcing the publication and initial delivery of the book and signed ("The Author"), and addressed to a John Boardman Esq.; sheet, folded twice, mounted to stub before frontispiece, dated 20 March 1812.
