Additional Details

A curious copy with over thirty pencil sketched vignettes by W. W. Denslow in the margins, and with his signature on the title-page. Copies illuminated by Clara Schlegel have come on the market but none with Denslow illustrations, as far as we could determine. This was Denslow's first year working for the Roycroft Press and he was responsible for many extra-illuminated editions that came out in the following years. Denslow is best known for his illustrations of the popular Wizard of Oz series.
