(RUSSIAN-STYLE SPA) Group of 18 photographs of a masseur and his client in a faux Russian bathhouse (or "banya"). The men have distinctive hair cuts and are arranged on a low platform, around which are set various props, including a hookah; with a European-style 'trompe l'oeil' backdrop. Albumen prints, most measuring approximately 6 1/2x8 inches (16.5x20.3 cm.), each with a number and caption, in Cyrillic, in the negative, and each with partial reinforcing backing and various picture agency stamps on verso; also with a 19th image of a man getting part of his head shaved, 8 3/8x5 1/4 inches (21.3x13.3 cm.), labeled "Egyptian," in pencil on mount recto and with picture agency stamps on mount verso. 1880s
