(SAN FRANCISCO) Album containing 33 crisp and dramatic photographs recording the aftermath of the 1906 earthquake, possibly shot by R. Meany of Los Angeles, with each print identified by its street location. The photographs highlight locals wandering the streets reviewing the wreckage, many attempting to resume a daily routine against a backdrop of billowing clouds of dark smoke. Other photographs depict the rampant destruction of the downtown area against the picturesque backdrop of the strait of Golden Gate, as well as tents that housed the displaced, signage advertising contractors, and the compromised conditions of city landmarks. Silver prints, the images measuring 5x6 3/4 inches (12.7x17.1 cm.), mounted recto only, each with a caption, in ink, on mount verso. Oblong 4to, cloth, lightly soiled, with a recent title label affixed to the front cover; twin-bolt binding; with an inscription on the front pastedown "A Mi amigo, Dr. W. Villalpando, R.
