A collection of more than 30 photographs documenting the aftermath of the 1906 earthquake in the Bay Area.


The archive includes a group of 7 photographs of San Francisco (including a bird's-eye panoramic shot) that appear to be from the Belle-Oudry studio in Oakland; a selection of 12 mounted photographs, most of which are captioned and include images of Stanford University; and the remaining showing the structural devastation throughout the city, many with a credit or notations from a Dr. F.W. Stapff. Silver prints, the images measuring 5 1/2x7 1/2 inches (14x19.1 cm.), and slightly smaller, and the reverse, one 8x9 inches (20.3x23 cm.), 12 on black paper mounts 7x9 inches (17.8x22.9 cm.), many with captions, in pencil and in ink, on recto or verso, and a few with captions in the negative. 1906
