Additional Details

This portfolio contains working and nearly finished original watercolor plates for the book that would be published by the Tiber Press in an edition of 1558 (1500 regular and 58 deluxe) and ultimately contain only 14 silkscreens after the illustrations by Schneebaum. Like the limited edition of 58, this copy contains plates on thick Fabriano paper and comes in a blue stock portfolio (the regular edition of 1500 was on thinner stock and in a red cover). This was Schneebaum''s first illustrated book. He would become most famous for his work (and the subsequent documentary) Keep the River on Your Right, about his adventures among the Asmat peoples in the Peruvian Amazon and Papua New Guinea.
