Additional Details

The projects covered in these blueprints include 3 from the massive Fontana Dam in North Carolina, 2 from the Hales Bar Dam in Tennessee, and 4 from South Holston Dam in Tennessee (including a duplicate). The plans are technical schematics showing radial gates, boom extensions, and cylinder gates. Another from Kentucky Dam in Kentucky shows a lift span for a related railway bridge relocation, and one from the Watts Bar Dam in Tennessee shows the boiler feed water treatment for the steam plant (with additional pencil schematics on verso).
The accompanying scrapbook (acquired with the blueprints) contains 140 small photographs of dam and power plant construction. It is largely uncaptioned, but was compiled from 1937 to 1940. One of the photographs shows a sign for Riley Creek in Tennessee, which now feeds into the lake created by Watts Bar Dam.
