". . . I . . . thank you . . . for your congratulations on my success in Mycenae. In fact I feel quite proud to see that my labours are so highly appreciated by you. But unfortunately there is little or no hope that the Treasures will be exhibited here before next summer, because the Archaeological Society has not even ordered yet the necessary glass cases, etc. . . . [T]hey have, I think, no suitable place . . . to put up so enormous a mass of jewels, which would fill the whole upper story of the British Museum. . . .
"I am now going to publish at Mr. John Murray's in London in English my doings in Mycenae with 400 or more photolithographic plates of the Treasures (with the photographing of which I am progressing) . . . ."
