An extensive run of the official organ of the American Colonization Society, and a primary resource for the study of colonization. Among the illustrations are a view of the Liberian settlement at Cape Montserrado in Volume I; a hand-colored map of Liberia in Volume VI. Many issues have the original subscriber's name inscribed. The run was compiled from several different sources. Some of the early issues belonged to Governor Levi Lincoln Jr. of Massachusetts. "The oldest colonization periodical. . . .
