A French abolitionist journal edited by Cyrille Bissette of Martinique, who had been branded and deported to Paris for his activism. It is thought to be the first European periodical published by a Black man. Includes reports from the French colonies in Martinique, Guadeloupe, Guiana, Senegal, and Algeria. Issues 7 through 12 all contain a rendering of the classic "Am I Not a Man or a Brother?" graphic on the title page.
