presentation copy to abolitionist lewis tappan from charles stuart dated may 1834. possibly to celebrate emancipation in the west indies. A collection of anti-slavery material that had been issued by the Birmingham Female Anti-Slavery Society over a period of years was consolidated to form this "Album." We do not know how many such albums were made, but certainly not many. Each component was an uncirculated pamphlet or engraving and thus the condition of these pieces is generally excellent.
