Additional Details

a letter with excellent content, and a fine association. Douglass writes to his old friend Lewis Tappan, one of the leading abolitionists in the country. "My dear Sir, I accept with pleasure the invitation to be present at the anniversary of the American and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society, to be held in New York on the tenth of next May. I have been invited to attend the Anti-Slavery Convention to be held in Cincinnati April 11th 12th and 13th and had intended to have remained in Ohio a number of weeks thereafter, but with a view to being present at your 'one man society,' on the interesting occasion of its anniversary, I shall abridge my stay. We are all well here and are working away without the abatement of heart or hope. It looks just now like the South would catch a tartar in the Kansas-Nebraska Bill. Very truly yours for the slave, Frederick Douglass."
