Additional Details

These slaves had all been property of a Mrs. Corbin, who died in 1777. They are here organized by their location when the estate was being settled in 1786: "Negroes of the Old Estate," now dispersed (with the present owners listed); "Breeding wenches, Rutherford's lot"; "Children since Mrs. Corbin's death, Rutherford's lot, Oct. 1786"; "In Corbin's lot"; and "Children born since Mrs. Corbin's death." Names are given for each, ages for most, and occupations for a few. On verso, the docketing lists the executors, and a note regarding the Federal Court of Newbern & Wilmington.
