Fine commemorative medal for one of the best-known advocates for emancipation in the West Indies, designed by Joseph Davis. The reverse bears the legend: "80 feet by 60/ seats for 2000 persons & 600 children/ cost nearly L6000 St." Thomas Knibb, a Baptist minister, worked tirelessly on behalf of Jamaica''s black population, bond and free.
