Additional Details

A complex document involving the sale of four slaves by their owner Mr. G. S. Rousseau to a Mr. Bernard Nerant: "A family of slaves to wit: A Negro woman named Kate, or Katherine, aged about thirty three years and her three children, Charlotte, a girl aged about twelve years, Paul or Hypolite, a boy aged about eleven years, and Pie, a male child about two years old, all slaves for life, and belonging to the present vender for having purchased them from Joseph Bartheleme." These slaves were part of the dowry of Mr. Rousseau''s wife Emilie Lee, who had to officially renounce her ownership of the slaves in order for the sale to proceed.
