Additional Details

rare retained copy of a portion of the "asiento" with two notorious genovese slavers. Establishes fees and places certain restrictions on the areas in the Spanish colonies where the slave traders could sell their slaves. From the context it is clear that Lomelin and Grillo were probably selling slaves outside of the agreed upon ports. See Maria Vega Franco, "El Trafico de Esclavos con American (Asiento de Grillo y Lomelin, (Sevilla, 1984), pages 46-48. And Apendice II, for a complete version of the renewed contract of 1672.
