A receipt for payment to a newspaper for advertising for 'Runaway (Negroes)' and a subscription. The bill for '$4.00 for the runaway slave advertisements, and $6.00 for a year and a half subscription, had apparently gone unpaid. The bill originated with Mr. John S. Pharr and was paid off by Thomas King Beck, both families were among the largest holders of slaves in the state. It is possible the Beck acquired the Pharr estate and with it
