Additional Details

An intriguing "laundry-list" of all the court costs of this case, including the costs of "paid witnesses," and the "Cryer calling the jury," and "cryer for the day," etc. With over forty separate fees, everything imaginable was charged for, including the judge's fee. Cornelius Rierson was born in what is now Wantagh, New York, in 1752. When the Revolution began, Rierson remained faithful to the Crown, fleeing to Nova Scotia after the war. He returned to Long Island around the turn of the century.
