Additional Details

A rare example of a slave-dealer/broker''s business card. At the bottom is printed a recommendation from the local sheriff or magistrate Wm. Wright: "Having leased the above gentlemen my offices and jail, would take pleasure in recommending them to my patrons and the public generally." A further note from the dealers advises potential patrons of the safety of the jail where slaves are held before sale.
