(SLAVERY AND ABOLITION.) STOWE, HARRIET BEECHER. Scenes from Uncle Tom No. 2. First Meeting of Uncle Tom and Eva. Hand-tinted lithograph, 13-1/2x10 inches, matted and framed. New York: T.W. Strong Litho, 1852-1860's

Additional Details

One of a number of scenes from Stowe's tremendously popular anti-slavery novel, depicting Little Eva perched on a bale of cotton talking to Uncle Tom on a pier, the smokestack of a paddle-wheeler in the background. The primitive style of this engraving gives the effect of Eva almost floating in mid-air.
