Additional Details

Following the appearance of a series of hand-colored caricatures titled "Life in Philadelphia," issued by Edward Williams Clay of Philadelphia, at least two English houses began to issue their own versions of same. The Black Ball was printed on the reverse of an engraving of a family of beggars. The house of Summers was definitely economizing.
