Additional Details

first edition of a scarce and important anti-slavery work, bearing the ownership signature of abolitionist Moses Brown. Brown (1738-1836) came from a well-to-do New England family of merchants whose various businesses included the West India trade. In 1773, after the passing of his first wife and marriage to his second wife, who was a Quaker, Brown adopted her faith, freed his own slaves, and became an ardent abolitionist.
