first edition thus, combining the earlier (1850) Narrative with an up-to-date rendering of the abolitionist's life by Frances W. Titus. Mrs.Titus, known as Sojourner Truth's "Trusted Scribe," was more than simply a secretary and tour organizer. Frances Wallingford Titus (1816-1894) was herself a staunch campaigner for women's rights and the founder of a school for freed children.
