Additional Details

Exhibited at the Gerald Ford Presidential Library, February - May 2007. This apparently unpublished beardless portrait of Douglass, resembles an image residing in the National Archives. The collodion wet plate process was invented in 1851 and survived through the 1870s, however it was rarely used after the popularization of tintypes in the 1860s.
