Additional Details

A legal instrument signing over the entire estate of the late John Kleinpeter to auctioneer Juan Manuel Moreno, with stipulation that the bids on the slaves, must reach the 'reserves' placed to the right of their names and paid for in cash. The Kleinpeter, or Clempetre family were early settlers in what was once Spanish territory. Their lands consisted of at least four large land grants from Spanish Crown in the late 18th century.
