Additional Details

An unusual piece of music, being a ballad celebrating the great "Exodus" of 1879. Following the loss of the War, many white Southerners held such deep resentment toward blacks that it became self-evident that there was never going to be any "getting along." Negroes answered the "Negro Problem" by leaving the South in droves: "We are going, We are going, from the Land we thought was free. . . " exceedingly rare. no copies of this work are located. not in worldcat, not in the levy collection.
