Additional Details

the second American edition. Prince Naimbanna, son of King Naimbanna, was brought to England by the Sierra Leone Company in 1791 in order to be educated in English and religion. In 1793, the Prince decided to return to his native Africa to evangelize his people. Sadly he died of a fever en route. This narrative was first published by Zachary Macaulay, son of Lord Macaulay, in 1796. Drawn from Naimbanna's extempore speech before the House of commons, "from notes taken by companions." Rare, OCLC locates only 5 copies. Not in Blockson; Schomburg showing only the 1825 Dublin edition.
