Additional Details

This little narrative was written and printed for family members, and is accompanied by a crudely made photo post card of the author. Both were together in an envelope marked "My Father [sic] History" when obtained by the present owner. The narrative is unrecorded and we could find no record of sale for it in the last 30 years either. Monroe Williamson Sr. was born a slave on Beech Island, South Carolina on March 1, 1853. Many of his paragraphs begin "My dear children," possibly grandchildren given his age of 79 at the time this was written.
