Additional Details

An exceptionally long bill showing a huge 'shopping list' for goods for the Fulton plantation, a large estate in Marlboro County, SC. Literally something for everybody, including large quantities of silk, brocade, plaid, blankets, denim, quantities of cloth of different types, buttons and 'hook & eyes.' It is apparent that the plantation must have had its own seamstress, possibly more than one. A note on the reverse of the bill says 'No 66,' indicating a long relationship with this particular plantation. A good source of information on the domestic economy and everyday management of a large plantation.
