Group of 9 rare postcards associated with the Société Anonyme, including 8 real photo postcards. Includes Man Ray's Lampshade, Marcel Duchamp's The Large Glass [A Regarder d'un Oeil, de pres, pendant presque une heure], and copy images of important artworks, including Picasso's Drawing--Two Women, an untitled Kurt Schwitters painting, Katherine S. Dreier's Portrait of Marcel Duchamp, and more; the photomechanical image depicts Dreier's Atmospheric Variations. Silver prints on carte-postale paper, the images measuring 2 3/4x4 3/4 inches (7x12.1 cm.), and the reverse, the sheets 3 1/2x5 1/2 inches (8.9x14 cm.), each with the S © A credit, name, and address on recto, and 6 with the imprint and triangular logo on verso. 1920-30

The Société Anonyme, which was founded in 1920 by Katherine Dreier, Man Ray, and Marcel Duchamp, was an experimental museum whose goal was to promote contemporary art to American audiences. The trio of artists produced more than 80 exhibitions between 1920-1940. Dreier eventually donated the collection to the Yale University Art Gallery in 1941.
