The British naval vessel Wager, part of Anson's fleet which harassed Spanish shipping, wrecked off the coast of Chile. A portion of the surviving crew mutinied and took a longboat through the Straits of Magellan, up the Patagonian coast, and finally reaching safety in Brazil.
