The composer Irena Whitney (1857-1932) spent most of her life in Bureau, IL, not far from Ottawa where this instrumental piece was published. She dedicated it to Mrs. Jennie G. Whitney, perhaps a relative who went west in the Black Hills Gold Rush. No copies traced in OCLC or elsewhere.
