Additional Details

Volume One was issued in parts starting in 1836. Thus the first chromolithographs from Jones' work rank as perhaps the earliest of their kind to be printed in England. Jones' Alhambra was published at the same time as Robert's Holy Land and reflects the strong interest in Islam and the Near East in the 1840s.
