Additional Details

A shipboard production from the U.S.F.S. Olympia, devoted to the recent Battle of Manila, and printed on paper captured from the Spanish. Page nine is printed over the letterhead of the Arsenal de Cavite.

The map of the battle on the final page was made by crew member L.C. Passano, "who with indomitable energy and a couple of sail needles, made it after a number of failures. . . . Without a doubt it is the first thing of the kind done on a man-o'-war, and taking into consideration the difficulties under which our artist labored, it can pose as a work of art." One other found at auction, at a Swann sale, 1 December 2011, lot 259.
