Jesse Owens (1913-1980) was best known for winning four gold medals at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, to the chagrin of Adolph Hitler and the Nazi regime. The earliest photo in this lot is from 17 June 1933, when Owens tied the world record for the 100-yard dash while still in high school. The others date from his days as a star at Ohio State.
