number 22 of only 100 copies printed by hand and inscribed and signed by stewart to friends. A very unusual interpretation of Hamlet containing dramatic, energetic images. Each page illustrates the immediate dialogue from the text, with smaller scenes in the background depicting the supporting text. Stewart was a painter, muralist, and printmaker based in Santa Fe though she ws born to an affluent Philadelphia family and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts. An interesting addition to any illustrated Shakespeare collection.
