Album containing 33 photographs documenting the closed-circuit TV broadcast of a CITGO rebranding event. The images depict the theatrical set: a strikingly painted two-dimensional car and garage with real gas pumps and trees, vibrant signage, an audience of suited executives, a pump attendant quartet, various presenters including TV personalities Ed McMahon and Barbara Walters (who were the faces of CITGO "Zzooommm" campaign), and multiple behind-the-scenes shots of cameramen in the NBC studios. Ektacolor (29) and ferrotyped silver (4) prints, each measuring 8x10 inches (20.3x25.4 cm.), and slightly smaller, mounted recto only. Oblong small folio, gilt-lettered off-white cloth. 1965

Citgo's new tri-mark logo--a patriotic red, white and blue--implied power and underscored the company's American roots. The photographs are reminiscent of Eggleston and Shore while also keying in to Ed Ruscha's fascination with the iconic gas station, which is recreated on the set.
