first edition in english of an important Mexican report on border crime. Cattle and horse thieves and Indian incursions were a major problem along the Mexican-United States border. This translation, printed by order of the Mexican government, details countless border incidents from the 1840s through the 1870s, with the goal of proving that Americans were at fault. It urges Mexico to "repel every act of violence which can be anticipated from her numerous enemies in the United States, whether they be real Indians, disguised white men, filibusters, or simple bandits" (page 441).
