Includes discussions of the city charter of San Antonio, the Galveston, Houston, and Henderson Railroad, land grants, furnishing an executive mansion, the Red River Raft Bill, and more. The final issue deals with slavery in federal territories, with a lengthy argument offered by Sam Houston. The original owner, Anthony Martin Branch (1824-1867), was a lawyer in Huntsville, TX who was then serving in the legislature. He later served in the Confederate congress, and as executor of Sam Houston's will.
