Group of 78 press photographs of the Berlin Wall made during the Cold War.
Many of the images showing reuniting families, residents visiting across the border on designated days with special visas, construction (including barbed wire and the growing concrete structure), East German security measures, the so-called "death strip," children playing near the wall on the Western side, Checkpoint Charlie, border guards in towers, and successful defectors from East to West. Ferrotyped silver press prints and wirephoto prints, the images measuring 5 1/2x6 to 8 1/2x7 inches (13.2x15.2 to 21.6x17.8 cm.), and the reverse, many with a caption and date in the negative on recto, and each with a combination of trimmed newspaper clippings, handwritten captions or engraver's notations, and hand stamps and/or slugs, on verso; enclosed in the original manilla folder with the Berlin Wall File 1 label.
