P.T. Barnum operated his American Museum in New York from 1841 to 1865 before going on the road with the circus he is remembered for today. This broadside advertises the day's theatrical performances, as well as "a variety of astounding novelties about to be received from Europe" and a demonstration of "fancy glass blowing." The Museum's Chinese collection "contains a million of curiosities and will afford as thorough a knowledge of the Chinese People, as a visit to China itself."
