Additional Details

These images were part of a series of black figures and movable screens for stage settings that Craig was developing at this time. He based them on the wood and cardboard silhouettes used in his model stage to illustrate the scenes he envisioned for the production of the Moscow Hamlet. The one-dimensional figures were inked in black and pressed on thin paper or cloth, revealing in the print the stylized features and folds of the carved garments of the original silhouettes.
