Additional Details

first belgian edition, signed, dated, and additionally inscribed by tijtgat. The colophon is stamped "edition hors commerce exemplaire reservé, numero 30b." The first signature dated to the publication year 1921, the inscription (à Harris?) is dated 1924. This does not correspond to the justification of 110 copies as stated on the colophon. While Tijtgat was Belgian, during World War I he set up his workshop in England , thus the two editions that precede this were published first in 1917 (a proof edition of 8 copies, plus 15 copies of the folio of prints); the second edition of 1918 was published in London in a run of 50 copies. Tijtgat is associated with the Brabant Fauvists, a Belgian movement focused on pure, bold colors and simplified lines, similar to the Fauves led by Henri Matisse in France.
