Additional Details

Ellen Simpson Brown (1853-1942) of the Rostrevor Estate in Haverford, PA undertook this world tour with her husband Samuel Brewster Brown, visiting London, Paris, Italy, Greece, Egypt, and Jerusalem. The volume gradually transforms from a detailed narrative to a photo album as the tour progresses. The party dined with the late Charles Dickens's family on 23 and 27 November, including daughter Mary Dickens and son Sir Henry Fielding Dickens, and were presented with a Dickens autograph (not included).
